East Longmeadow Center Village is a mixed-use development encompassing new retail and office space adjacent to the existing Town Hall, Library, and Healthrax Fitness Center. The development includes approximately 50,000 SF of new infill construction to create a dynamic and viable Town Center.
The new center is created from underutilized and unorganized land around the Town Hall through the relocation of an existing historic building to another location, the addition of a variety of architectural elements, and the articulated landscaping features, including a variety of pavement textures and traffic calming devices.
The ability to permit challenging projects holds true in this particular project, as easements were required by Town Meeting as access to the site traversed. Town owned property, parking counts were questioned, and a delicate balance was needed to create a win-win situation for both the Developer and the Town.
